Get to Know Me

For 35 years, I lived in a world that felt impossible to escape. Addiction, schizophrenia, homelessness, and a level of isolation that swallowed every part of me. I lost everything — my stability, my relationships, my sense of worth, even my identity. I was alive, but I wasn’t living. I was surviving inside a storm that never seemed to end.

But even in all that darkness, something inside me refused to die. There was a cry buried deep in my spirit, a whisper that kept rising no matter how broken I felt. One day, I finally listened. I said out loud, through tears and exhaustion:

“This is not my life. This is not who I am.”

Those words became the first step toward my freedom.

When I surrendered and reached for Jesus Christ, everything began to shift. Through faith, I found strength I didn’t know I had. Through submission, I found clarity. Through resilience, I broke the chains that held me in bondage for decades. The isolation that once defined me began to fall away, piece by piece.

Today, I stand free — truly free. Free from addiction. Free from the torment of my past. Free from the silence that once kept me hidden from the world.

I have a sound mind. I have a clear conscience. I have a heart that has been healed enough to love again. I wake up every day knowing that hope never fails and that new beginnings are always possible, no matter how much has been lost.

My story didn’t end in the darkness. It began again in the light.

Now, I share my journey because I want others to know what I once couldn’t believe — total renewal is real. I proudly serve as a volunteer peer support specialist in reentry, standing beside people who are fighting battles like the ones I fought. I want them to see that transformation is possible, that healing is possible, that a new life is possible.

I am living proof that no one is too far gone to rise again. And if my story can help even one person find their way out of the storm, then every step of my journey has meaning.
